Packing according to ISPM15
1 / Scope of application:
Under the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC), most pallets are transported across national boundaries to be made of materials that are incapable of carrying invasive species of insects and plant diseases. The standards for pallets are specified in ISPM 15.
This standard specifies phytosanitary measures to reduce the risk of introduction or spread of phytopathogenic pests associated with wood packaging materials – Wood Packaging Materials (including padding). from coniferous wood or other raw wood used in international trade.
2 / Established basics:
Wooden packaging materials are usually made from unprocessed raw or processed wood to remove and eliminate pests and thus are the pathways for introduction and spread of pests. In addition, wood packaging materials are commonly used, recycled or remanufactured (packaging materials of a re-entry shipment for packaging for other shipments for export) .
It is difficult to determine the true origin of wood packaging materials, so the phytosanitary status of these materials can not be asserted. Therefore, the risk analysis process to determine what measures are needed and to strengthen these measures frequently is not possible for wooden packaging materials because of the source and status of the quarantine. Their object is not identifiable.
Therefore, this standard provides that approved measures are globally accepted and applicable to all wood packaging materials for all countries to eliminate risks. For most plant quarantine pests, and significantly reduce the risk from other pests that may be associated with packaging materials.
3 / Adjusted wooden packaging material:
This guideline applies to packaging materials made of coniferous wood and other types of wood which may be pathways for the entry of plant pests that pose a major threat to live plants. They can be pallets, lifting plates, dumpers, logs, boxes, boxes, supports, belts and other inserts that most of the shipments have, including shipments of jars. It is usually not a quarantine inspection object.
4 / Approved measures for wood packaging material
a / Heat treatment:
Wood packaging material is heated in accordance with the specified temperature and time, in order to achieve a minimum temperature of 560C at a wood core for 30 minutes. Heat treatment is expressed in HT in the standard mark.
Methyl Bromide (MB):
Wooden packaging materials (pallets, lifting plates, dumpers, logs, boxes, boxes, belts and other items) should be disinfected with Methyl Bromide. This treatment is recorded in MB in standard marks. Minimum standards for MB disinfection for wood packaging materials. Minimum temperature of sterilization is not less than 100C.
5 / The most dangerous list must be handled by HT or MB:
The following pest group related to wood packaging material will be excluded by HT and MB treatment in accordance with the provisions in the above list.
6 / Stamp for approved measures:
IPPC – International Plant Protection Convention.
The above stamp affirms that the wood packaging material bearing the seal has undergone the approved measure.
The minimum mark includes the following:
Symbol.
The two-digit country code followed by a certain number is assigned to the processor by the National Plant Protection Agency.
IPPC abbreviations for approved measures (eg HT for heat treatment and MB for disinfection with Methyl Bromide).
The right seal:
According to the law.
Clear, easy to read.
Eternal and not fade.
Positionally placed at least two opposite sides of the object to be certified.
Avoid using red or orange because these colors are often used for dangerous goods labels
